Contract language that prevents chaos
- Require CPSC-accepted lab reports for each SKU/colourway before shipment.
- Forbid material or supplier swaps without written approval and retesting.
- Require tracking-label artwork approval as part of pre-production.
- Own the certificate issuance process — do not outsource legal responsibility to the factory PDF.
Brand portfolio hygiene
Private-label catalogs grow by ASIN. Treat each children’s ASIN as its own compliance object: report, CPC, labels, packet. Shared “one certificate for the whole brand” shortcuts are how suppressions cascade across a catalog.
Questions people ask
Can my freight forwarder issue the CPC?
No. The certifying party is the importer or domestic manufacturer. Forwarders move freight; they do not assume CPSIA certification responsibility.
What if I use multiple factories for one ASIN?
Each manufacturing source needs coverage. Mixing untested factories under one listing is a classic enforcement failure.
