Which warning

16 CFR 1500.19 sets the choking-hazard wording. Pick the one that matches the product, not the one that looks nicest on the box.

A sticker that peels off is not a warning. The regulation wants the text on the principal display panel of the package, in the contrast and size the rule describes. Your laboratory can confirm you have the right one.

Under 3 also needs a CPC citing 16 CFR 1501

The warning is not a substitute for small-parts testing or the certificate.

Questions people ask

Is an “Ages 3+” mark enough?

No. Age grading and the choking-hazard warning are different duties. If the product has small parts, a balloon, a marble, or a small ball, 16 CFR 1500.19 wants the specific warning on the principal display panel.

Does the warning replace small-parts testing?

No. Products for children under 3 still need 16 CFR 1501 testing and a CPC that cites it. The label warns; the test is the evidence.

Can I rewrite the wording so it fits the box?

Do not paraphrase. The regulation specifies the text. If space is tight, shrink the type — do not invent a friendlier sentence.
