CPC requirements for Amazon FBA sellers

FBA does not create a compliance exemption. If you sell children’s products into Amazon USA, you still need a CPC based on CPSC-accepted testing, tracking labels on units, and a document pack that survives Account Health and TIC Direct Validation. Inventory already received into FC can be stranded when documents fail — issue certificates before inbound, not after the hold.

FBA-specific failure modes

  • Units arrive without tracking labels → labeling remediation or disposal risk.
  • ASIN gated after inventory is checked in → storage fees while TIC/testing runs.
  • Multi-pack or variety ASINs whose reports only cover one colourway.
  • Supplier changes mid-season while FBA still holds the old configuration’s paperwork.

Operating sequence that works

  • Test and issue the CPC before the first FBA shipment.
  • Print tracking labels into the packaging SOP at the factory.
  • Keep CPC + full report + photos of labels in one packet per ASIN.
  • When TIC is requested, start the TRF immediately — do not wait for the FC deadline email.

Questions people ask

Can Amazon create the CPC for me because I use FBA?

No. Amazon is the marketplace and fulfillment provider. The importer or domestic manufacturer issues the CPC.

Does FBA accept factory certificates?

Only if the certificate correctly names the certifying party. Most factory templates fail. Issue your own from the lab report.
