Children’s product requirements on eBay
What eBay enforces
- Banned and recalled children’s products are prohibited — including drop-side cribs and items on CPSC recall lists.
- Listings must accurately state age grading and safety features.
- eBay cooperates with CPSC takedown requests, and repeat violations end accounts.
Documentation worth holding
eBay rarely pre-asks for CPCs, which is exactly why prepared sellers win: when a buyer report or CPSC sweep hits, the seller who can produce the certificate and test report keeps the listing. Store the CPC, the lab report, and the tracking-label photos together for every SKU.
Questions people ask
Does eBay verify CPCs before listing?
No: there is no pre-listing document check, which shifts the risk to the seller. The CPSC actively monitors marketplaces including eBay for non-compliant children’s products.
Can I sell handmade children’s products on eBay?
Yes — handmade does not exempt you from CPSIA certification if the product is a children’s product. Generate the CPC from your test data.
