Which rules apply to farm animal play sets

The testing and certification path
Testing covers the small-parts cylinder on every animal, fence piece, and accessory for under-3 grades; lead in painted figures; phthalates in soft plastic animals; and hinge or wheel integrity on movable pieces.
Book testing at a laboratory that is CPSC-accepted for each rule, issue the CPC in your own name citing the rules your report supports, and keep the certificate with its test report for at least five years. Marketplaces ask for the pair, not the certificate alone.

Are soft plastic animals tested differently?
Soft PVC animals pull phthalate testing into scope — hard ABS figures test lead and mechanical instead. Material decides the test plan.
Do sets with ponds or water features add rules?
Water features on toys raise the same drowning-warning expectations as water toys. Review warnings and design with your laboratory.
