Amazon toy gating and how to get through it
What Amazon usually asks from toy sellers
- Invoices or receipts proving legitimate sourcing (typically 3–6 months of history for ungating).
- Product images matching the listing.
- A CPC and test report for children’s products, from a CPSC-accepted lab.
- For the annual toy cycle: re-validation through an Amazon-approved TIC firm (SGS, Intertek, Eurofins, TUV, BV, QIMA and others).
Why documents get rejected
The most common rejection reasons are preventable: test reports older than the accepted window, missing CFR rule citations, certificates that do not match the ASIN’s product, and altered orsupplier-drafted documents without lab backing. A cleanly generated certificate with matching product details avoids all four.
Questions people ask
What is the annual toy re-validation?
Since September 3, 2025, Amazon requires toy listings to re-validate testing or documents each year through approved TIC firms, notified in waves ahead of Q4. Missing the wave removes the listing until you comply.
Does every toy need new testing every year?
Amazon’s policy requires annual validation, which can be document review or new testing depending on the case. Keep your reports and certificates organized so the yearly cycle is painless.
Can I generate the CPC myself for the application?
Yes: the importer or US manufacturer issues the CPC, and the free generator produces a complete, correctly formatted one from your test report data.
